Encouraging Words Wednesday – Burden?

Are you carrying around a burden?

Parent…… Are you burdened for your child? Or another family member?

Friend…… Are you burdened for a friend? What about a co-worker?

What is a burden anyway?

The definition of the word burden, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is as follows:

  1. a : something that is carried : load
    b : duty, responsibility
  2. a : something oppressive or worrisome

Are you carrying around a heavy load, duty or responsibility? Is your burden oppressive or worrisome?

Maybe it is a sickness, your job, school work, financial trouble, or maybe you have a family member who is struggling with making the right choices. Whatever it may be, I want to encourage you with these words today….

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:27-30

Friend, Jesus wants you to come to Him with your burden.

Claim this promise today!

Maybe you’re thinking, “Nah, everything is going good, if fact it couldn’t be better!”

Someone you know is burdened about something. I would almost guarantee that! Maybe you could pray for someone else who is carrying a heavy, oppressive, worrisome load.

What’s that you say?

You don’t know of anything your loved ones are burdened about?

Maybe it is time to ask the Lord to bring to your attention a burden someone you love is carrying. If you are sincere, He will.

  4. I need to stop taking the burden back after giving it to him! It’s as though he has me in training! It’s also training me to be intentional in praying for the burdens of those around me! Good thoughts and encouragement!

    1. Thank you for taking the time to visit! I’m not sure we will ever totally master giving the burden to the Lord in every situation. It’s something I am striving to do.
